Job summary

Arkansas Children’s Hospital is seeking a Surgical Technologist II for the Outpatient Surgery department. The role supports the surgeon and RN, ensuring a sterile environment and proper preparation of instruments for pediatric to adult cases.

No weekends and a traditional day schedule with a 6:30am-5:00pm window. Responsibilities include sterile technique, instrument handling, case turnover, and safety adherence.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate's Degree in a related field recommended.
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) is a recommended certification.

Responsibilities

• Prepares operating room with instrumentation, supplies, and equipment for cases across services.
• Performs surgical counts with the RN prior to procedures.
• Maintains sterile field and applies sterile technique throughout procedures.
• Anticipates instrumentation needs to support efficient case turnover.
• Gowns and gloves surgeons, passes instruments, and maintains sterility.
• Counts sponges, blades, needles, and instruments; responds to counts as needed.
• Communicates changes in surgeon preferences and implants to the team.
• Completes instrument processing and terminal sterilization tasks.
• Assists with room turnover and restocks supplies after procedures.
• Promotes safety and reports concerns to RN or Team Leader.
• Participates in continuous improvement activities to enhance patient care.
