Job summary

Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center in Woodbridge, VA is seeking a PRN/Flexi Pharmacy Technician for its new Outpatient Pharmacy. The role involves dispensing and care delivery under a licensed pharmacist, with focus on ensuring continuous patient care and accurate medication handling.

Open hours are 9am-7pm, Monday through Friday; weekends and major holidays are closed. A Virginia Pharmacy Tech license and a CPhT credential are required, with 1 year of experience preferred for this

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Virginia Pharmacy Tech License required.
• CPhT license (NHA or PTCB) required.
• One year pharmacy tech experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs care delivery and dispensing under supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
• Fills and delivers medications under supervision.
• Ensures adequate supplies for continuous patient care.
• Triages questions outside scope of practice and escalates as needed.
• Uses appropriate systems for processing patient information.
• Maintains quality assurance per department and legal requirements.
• Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately.

Responsibilities

• The Pharmacy Technician performs care delivery and dispensing under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner.
• Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner.
• Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care.
• Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice as needed.
• Uses appropriate systems for processing patient information.
• Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements.
• Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately.
• In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

Compensation

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $23.50 - $36.36 hourly.
