Job summary

University Hospital is seeking an Oncology RN Clinical Care Coordinator for outpatient care in Newark. The role collaborates with oncologists to educate patients, coordinate treatment plans, and monitor response to therapy across the cancer care continuum.

This position requires oncology nursing experience, BSN, and CPR certification, with advanced certifications encouraged. Spanish-speaking candidates are highly preferred, and candidates must participate in ongoing education and quality

Qualifications

• BSN or related healthcare field required.
• 3+ years hospital-based oncology experience.
• Spanish-speaking candidates preferred.
• CPR certification required.
• ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Biotherapy and/or Radiation Therapy certificates required or to be obtained within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with oncologists to provide comprehensive outpatient care for hematology/oncology patients.
• Serve as primary clinical contact, coordinating care across continuum.
• Assess symptoms, treatment response, psychosocial needs, and barriers to care.
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, medications, side effects, and symptom management.
• Coordinate cross-disciplinary care with timely follow-up, referrals, testing, and interventions.
• Connect patients with internal and community resources; provide MyChart triage; escalate concerns when needed.
• Support physicians and APNs with follow-up and documentation; ensure continuity of care.
• Participate in quality improvement, committees, and patient programs.
