Job summary

UNC Health Appalachian is seeking a Medical Assistant I for our outpatient medical office in Boone, NC. This PRN, clinic-based, non-exempt role supports clinical and administrative tasks to ensure safe, efficient patient care.

You'll assist with exams, vital signs, document in EHR, schedule appointments, educate patients, and maintain a professional patient-centered environment. Compensation starts at $18.05/hour and includes comprehensive benefits; evenings/weekends may be required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• BLS certification required at hire.
• RMA, AAMA, or CCMA certification within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical and administrative support in a fast-paced outpatient medical office.
• Assist with exams, procedures, vital signs, and patient preparation under provider supervision.
• Maintain accurate patient records within the EHR system.
• Schedule appointments, answer patient inquiries, and support efficient clinic operations.
• Educate patients regarding treatments, medications, and procedures.
• Ensure a professional, patient-centered environment that promotes safety and comfort.
