Job summary

Duke University Health System is seeking a Financial Care Counselor for the PRMO at Duke Regional Hospital Outpatient in Durham, NC. You will verify patient accounts, determine financial liability, arrange payment options, and assist patients with insurance and government funding sources.

Your role involves analyzing insurance coverage, obtaining authorizations, coding and registration support, and facilitating access to financial counseling while upholding compliance and patient service

Responsibilities

• Accurately complete patient accounts based on departmental protocol and regulatory compliance.
• Inform patients of financial liability prior to arrival for services and arrange payment options.
• Analyze insurance coverage and benefits for service to ensure timely processing.
• Obtain authorizations based on insurance plan contracts and guidelines.
• Document billing systems and explain bills to visitors and patients.
• Collect and reconcile payments following PRMO policies and procedures.
• Facilitate payment sources for uninsured patients and refer to financial counseling.
