Qualifications

• Two years’ experience in hospital service access, clinical service access, physician office or billing and collections.
• Associate’s degree in healthcare with one year experience, or Bachelor’s degree with one year experience in public-facing roles.
• Basic grammar and math knowledge required.
• Knowledge of insurance policies and government funding sources is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analyze insurance coverage and benefits to determine timely service and payment options.
• Obtain authorizations and verify payment based on plan contracts and guidelines.
• Admit, register and pre-register patients with accurate demographic and financial data.
• Explain bills to patients and provide assistance with billing questions and payment arrangements.
• Reconcile daily cash collections and third-party sponsorship as applicable.
• Inform attending physicians of patient financial hardship and facilitate financial counseling when needed.
