Job summary

Insight Global is seeking an Outpatient Coder to code and abstract diagnoses from medical records for optimal reimbursement and quality reporting. The role emphasizes accuracy and timely processing in a hospital setting.

You will assign ICD-10-CM codes, abstract billing data, and ensure documentation supports facility charges while collaborating with providers to confirm codes and E/M levels. Strong credentials are required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of outpatient coding experience.
• Acute care facility outpatient coding including wound care, cardiac rehabilitation, and radiology edits.
• Maintain productivity while ensuring accuracy.
• Experience with NCCI/CCI code edits.
• Active AHIMA/AAPC credentials.
• Meet and maintain 95% quality accuracy and productivity standards.

Responsibilities

• Assign ICD-10-CM codes for medical record accounts, including diagnoses.
• Abstract key data elements required for billing, regulatory agencies, and databases.
• Review records for clinical pertinence and documentation to support facility-based charges.
• Communicate with providers to clarify documentation and ensure appropriate diagnoses, procedures, and E/M levels.
• Review and resolve outpatient claim edits to ensure compliant billing, including medical necessity and NCCI/CCI edits.
• Assist with resolution of simple outpatient visit coding errors as needed.
• Demonstrate courtesy and professionalism with visitors, co-workers, physicians, and hospital staff.
• Maintain patient confidentiality per hospital policy and standards.
• Acknowledge and support hospital goals; attend training to improve patient and customer communications.
