Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year demonstrated ICD-10-CM inpatient and/or outpatient coding experience in acute care or teaching setting.
• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology and medical terminology.
• Experience with EPIC health information system and 3M encoding preferred.

Responsibilities

• Codes and abstracts diagnosis and procedure information per AHA ICD-10-CM/PCS, AMA CPT-4, UHDDS and CMS guidelines.
• Uses 3M Encoder to verify and assign ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT-4 codes and DRG assignments.
• Maintains 95% data quality coding accuracy per quarterly reviews.
• Maintains productivity and turnaround times per department plan.
• Keeps up-to-date with coding conventions and DMG principles.
• Participates in department meetings and training sessions.
