Job summary

Vitruvian Health seeks a detail-oriented Medical Records Coder to code, analyze, and abstract ER, outpatient surgery and observation records, and to enter data into the hospital financial system.

The role requires AHIMA/HIA or HIT program completion, a credential such as RHIA/RHIT/CCS/CPC/CCA, and at least one year of ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding in an acute care hospital. You will work with physicians and QC staff, ensure confidentiality, and help maintain a high-quality medical record.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of AHIMA accredited HIA or HIT program with completion of basic coding courses, required.
  • AHIMA or AAPC approved credential(s) - RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC, CCA or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one year experience coding ICD-10-CM & CPT-4 in an acute care hospital.

Responsibilities

  • Code, analyze, and abstract ER, outpatient surgery and observation EMRs.
  • Enter abstracted information into the hospital financial system.
  • Index documents to the correct patient/encounter and QC issues for correction.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and support legal medical record integrity.
  • Review work queues daily to ensure timely processing.
