Job summary

ICFAI is seeking a Coder/Abstractor to accurately code diagnoses and procedures for billing and statistics using ICD-9-CM and CPT codes. The role includes monitoring unbilled accounts and ensuring timely coding while reviewing records for medical necessity and coordinating with physicians as needed.

The ideal candidate has a High School Diploma, RHIT or CCS certification, and at least 1 year of medical record coding experience, with strong computer and typing skills and attention to detail.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• RHIT or CCS with AHIMA certification required.
• 1 year medical record related coding experience required.
• Excellent computer and typing skills required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Code all outpatient and emergency department records using ICD-9-CM and CPT nomenclatures.
• Review records for medical necessity and query physicians when necessary.
• Monitor ER and/or outpatient unbilled reports to maintain timely coding.
