Job summary

Fulton County Health Center Inc is seeking a detail-oriented Inpatient Coder/Abstractor to join the Health Information team. You will code and abstract medical records across hospital services, ensuring data integrity and regulatory compliance, while supporting clinical and statistical reporting.

The ideal candidate will have RHIT or CCS credentials (or be pursuing AHIMA credential within 6 months) and be proficient with MEDITECH and encoder software.

Qualifications

• RHIT or CCS credential required; AHIMA-accredited credential may be acceptable if completion within 6 months.
• Proficiency with MEDITECH, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and encoder software (3M preferred).
• Knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT-4, UHDDS guidelines and Critical Access Hospital coding requirements.
• Ability to accurately abstract clinical information and maintain data integrity.

Responsibilities

• Review records and assign ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT-4 codes per UHDDS and CAH reporting requirements.
• Abstract and sequence clinical data while maintaining regulatory compliance.
• Perform chart analysis to ensure complete, accurate documentation.
• Generate clinical and statistical reports and respond to internal data requests.
• Maintain Master Patient Index and provide cross-functional support within Health Information.
