Job summary

CalvertHealth is seeking an outpatient medical coder to code and abstract outpatient records per established guidelines. The role requires AHIMA or AAPC certification eligibility within 12 months, and 1+ year of outpatient coding experience.

Knowledge of Meditech and 3M systems is preferred, with strong written and verbal communication and HIM workflow understanding. Education should be an Associate or Bachelor in HIM or Coding, or an equivalent combination.

Qualifications

• Codes and abstracts outpatient medical records according to established coding conventions.
• Education: Associate's or Bachelor's in HIM or Coding, or formal working knowledge equivalent.
• Certification: AHIMA (RHIA/RHIT/ CCS/ CCS-P) or AAPC (CPC/CPC-H) required on hire or within 12 months.
• Experience: 1+ year outpatient facility coding or related experience.
• Familiarity with HIM workflows and medical terminology; strong communication skills.
• Proficiency with computer systems and ability to work independently.
