Job summary

UNC Health Medical Group in Cary, NC is seeking a Medical Assistant II, Certified to provide routine clinical and administrative support in an outpatient clinic setting. You will work under the supervision of a provider and clinic manager.

The role requires completing a Medical Assisting program (preferred), MA certification, BLS, and at least one year of MA experience. The position offers a $7500 commitment incentive and onsite work.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Medical Assisting program strongly preferred but not required.
• Certification as MA by AAMA/AMT/CCMA/NRCMA/NCMA required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Minimum one year of full-time experience as a Medical Assistant, Certified.
• Ability to document in the electronic medical record.

Responsibilities

• Performs rooming and intake, collecting vital signs and visit data.
• Collects patient and family data including medical history.
• Reviews medication list and allergies.
• Assists the provider during treatments and procedures.
• Collects specimens and performs phlebotomy.
• Administers medications under provider direction.
• Performs tests such as EKG or eye exams.
• Reviews records to determine needed routine health screenings.
• Ensures exam rooms have supplies and materials ready.
• Provides post-visit instructions and educational materials.
• Prepares, cleans, stocks, and maintains exam rooms and sterilizes instruments.
• Assists with registration, check-in/out, scheduling, and referrals.
