Job summary

UNC Health Medical Group in Raleigh, NC is seeking a Medical Assistant II, Certified for outpatient support under provider supervision. You will perform rooming, vitals, data collection, and patient education while assisting with procedures and tests. The role includes registration tasks, phone coverage, and maintaining a clean, stocked exam room.

Requires M.A. certification and BLS; completion of an accredited program preferred.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Medical Assisting program is strongly preferred but not required.
• Current Medical Assistant certification by AAMA/AMT/CCMA/NCMA/NCHPT is requested.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Room patients and take vitals, height, weight, and reason for visit.
• Collect medical history from patient and family.
• Review medications and allergies; coordinate with pharmacy.
• Assist provider during procedures and exams as directed.
• Perform phlebotomy and collect specimens.
• Administer medications under supervision and maintain supplies.
• Support routine screenings and prepare exam rooms.
• Provide post-visit instructions and educational materials.
• Support registration, scheduling, and referrals; answer phones as needed.
• Maintain clinic safety, order supplies, and train new staff.
