Job summary

UNC Health in Cary, NC is seeking a Medical Assistant II, Certified to provide routine clinical and administrative support in an outpatient clinic. You will work under clinical supervision of the provider and under the manager’s direction.

This role requires at least one year of experience as a Medical Assistant, certification from an approved body, and BLS. Daytime, onsite schedule with a standard 40-hour work week. Salary is listed as hourly.

Qualifications

• At least one year of full-time experience as a Medical Assistant, Certified.
• Completion of a Medical Assisting program accredited by CAAHEP or ABHES is strongly preferred but not required.
• Medical Assistant certification by AAMA, AMT, CCMA, NRCMA, or NCMA.
• BLS certification from AHA or ARC is required.

Responsibilities

• Performs rooming/intake, including vital signs and reason for visit.
• Collects patient/family data and medication list.
• Assists provider during treatments, exams and procedures.
• Collects specimens and performs phlebotomy.
• Administers medications under provider direction.
• Performs tests (e.g., EKG, eye exams) under provider direction.
• Ensures exam rooms are stocked and ready for visits.
• Provides after-visit instructions and patient education.
• Help with patient registration, check-in/out, scheduling and referrals.
• Assist in emergency situations as directed.
