Job summary

USIC is hiring field locators to identify and mark underground utilities across the North Shore and Northwest Suburbs. You will work in the field using a company vehicle, locate telecoms, electric, gas, water, and sewer lines, and complete required documentation.

Starting pay is $21.00 per hour, with raises up to $33.00 per hour for experienced locators. We offer extensive training, benefits, and opportunities for advancement in a safety‑driven environment.

Qualifications

• Able and willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Proficiency with technology.
• Available to work overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed.
• Able to pass a drug screen (safety-sensitive position).
• Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
• Able to lift up to 75 lbs and work in confined spaces.
• Able to read locate tickets, maps and prints.

Responsibilities

• Locate underground utilities safely and efficiently.
• Mark the location and document each locate, photographing it.
• Communicate clearly with colleagues, contractors and homeowners.
