Job summary

ArborMetrics (AMS) is seeking a Consulting Utility Forester to perform field patrols along energy corridors, assess vegetation, and implement pruning or removal per Client standards.

You will engage landowners, document findings, and ensure compliance with safety protocols. The role emphasizes independent work in varied outdoor conditions, with emphasis on ISA pruning principles and real-world forestry practices.

Qualifications

• Education in forestry or related field or equivalent work experience.
• Experience in forestry, arboriculture, horticulture or tree-related green industry preferred.
• Knowledge of tree identification and GIS is beneficial.
• Ability to learn new computer programs and MS Office.
• Valid driver's license with safe driving record.
• Experience in electric utility vegetation management is a plus.
• Experience with GIS and MS Office; iPhone proficiency helpful.
• Able to work alone outdoors in varying conditions; strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Pre-Patrol Preparation: organize records and maps; review sites for habitats and vegetation.
• Field Patrol: identify vegetation for pruning/removal; classify work and apply ANSI standards.
• Landowner & Stakeholder Engagement: communicate plans; obtain permissions; provide professional service.
• Vegetation Management & Compliance: recommend IV M strategies; audit contractor work; investigate outages.
• Coordination & Safety: coordinate non-routine work; report hazards; follow AMS safety practices.
