Job summary

ArborMetrics is seeking a Consulting Utility Forester to join our vegetation management team. This role involves outdoor field patrols, documentation, and coordination with landowners, agencies, and contractors in utility corridors.

The ideal candidate has forestry-related education or equivalent experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently in varying weather and terrain. AMS offers training and ongoing certification support.

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in forestry, natural resources, or related discipline or equivalent work experience.
• Experience in forestry, arboriculture, horticulture or tree-related green industry preferred.
• Knowledge of tree identification; GIS software/technology; MS Office; iPhone usage.
• Must have valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Organize records, maps, and paperwork for patrol circuits; maintain documentation.
• Review work sites for endangered species, sensitive habitats, and incompatible vegetation.
• Safely patrol energy corridors on foot; identify vegetation for pruning, removal, or protection per Client standards.
• Classify prescribed work; use herbicide; assess tree risk and growth rates.
• Mark vegetation and prescribe clearance actions per ISA pruning techniques and ANSI standards.
• Identify property boundaries and obtain permissions from landowners and agencies.
• Coordinate non-routine work with stakeholders and contractors.
• Participate in storm and emergency response as needed.
