Job summary

City of Lewiston is seeking a skilled Traffic Maintenance Technician to install, inspect, repair, and maintain traffic signals, street lights, and pavement markings. You will manage temporary traffic controls for events and emergencies while ensuring safe, efficient vehicular and pedestrian flow.

The role requires the ability to read plans and use GIS and asset-management tools, and includes 24-hour emergency response and on-call duties. CDL is preferred, with endorsements pursued after hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; three years traffic maintenance experience preferred.
• CDL preferred at time of hire; specific endorsements may be required within 12-24 months.
• Knowledge of traffic control signals, street lighting, and pavement markings essential.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, construction drawings, and traffic orders.

Responsibilities

• Perform construction, maintenance, and repair of traffic signals, street lighting, and traffic signs.
• Install, maintain, and remove temporary traffic control for events and emergencies.
• Operate and maintain a variety of vehicles and equipment used in traffic services.
• Respond to emergencies on a 24-hour standby basis and provide onsite safety measures.
