Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. seeks a Tractor Technician Trainee in Memphis to gain foundational knowledge of tools, shop safety, and company policies. You will learn to perform repairs for air brake systems and FHWA inspections, shadowing senior technicians across shifts including nights and weekends as needed.

The role requires full-time attendance; outdoor work may be involved. GED or high school diploma and strong communication skills are preferred for success in this hands-on training program.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate (written and verbal) effectively.
• Ability to multitask in a dynamic shop environment.
• Ability to read documents and/or information in English.
• Self-motivation and willingness to learn.
• Basic computer skills and/or comfortable working with a computer.

Responsibilities

• Shadow a senior team member to learn repairs to company and manufacturer specifications, complete work orders and train for standard repair times.
• Follow all shop safety procedures consistently.
• Maintain professional communication with JB Hunt personnel and customers at all times.
• Train in routine preventative maintenance, replacement of parts/components, and basic repairs related to air brake systems and FHWA inspections.
