Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. in Dallas, TX is seeking a Tractor Technician Trainee under close supervision to gain foundational knowledge of tools, shop safety, and company policies.

The role may involve outdoor work, night and weekend shifts, and overtime with full-time attendance flexibility. The position focuses on learning air brake systems, FHWA inspections, and related repairs, with training on standard repair times and warranty guidelines.

Qualifications

• 18 years of age and willingness to work outdoors, in the elements, or across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends if needed
• Ability to read documents and/or information in English
• Trade school experience

Responsibilities

• Shadow a senior technician to learn repairs to company and manufacturer specifications, complete work orders, and train to meet standard repair times (SRT) and warranty guidelines
• Follow all shop safety procedures
• Maintain professional communication with JB Hunt personnel and customers
• Train to perform routine preventive maintenance and basic repairs on air brake systems and FHWA inspections
