Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport in Dallas, TX is seeking a Tractor Technician Trainee. The role provides foundational training in tools, shop safety, and company rules, with focus on air brake systems and FHWA inspections.

You will work outdoors or across shifts, and maintain communication with customers and staff. Responsibilities include shadowing, following safety procedures, performing basic repairs, and advancing through routine maintenance and warranty guidelines with supervised guidance.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and able to work outdoors and on multiple shifts.
• Willingness to work nights/weekends as needed.
• Preferred: High School Diploma or GED.
• Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal).
• Ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to multitask and read English.
• Ability to wear PPE and work independently or in a team.
• Basic active listening, computer skills, and time management.
• Self-motivation and trade school experience.

Responsibilities

• Shadow a more senior team member to learn repairs to company and manufacturer's specifications, complete work orders, and train to meet standard repair times.
• Follow all shop safety procedures.
• Maintain professional communication with JB Hunt personnel and customers.
• Train to be efficient in routine preventative maintenance, replacement of parts, and basic repair related to air brake systems and FHWA inspections.
