Job summary

University of Redlands is seeking a Graduate Assistant to support the Office of Outdoor Programs within Student Campus Life. The role collaborates with the Director of Recreation to manage student leaders, develop programming curricula, and train student staff in outdoor programming.

The position is temporary, non-exempt, part-time (20 hours) with flexible evenings and weekends. It emphasizes diversity, inclusion, and program evaluation to promote engaged learning through outdoor activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Education or related field.
• Two years of experience planning and facilitating outdoor programs trips, including budgeting and risk mitigation.
• A valid California Class C driver’s license with a good driving record.
• Wilderness First Responder certification.

Responsibilities

• Support Outdoor Programs student leaders in planning, coordination, and execution of outdoor trips.
• Attend and assist in Apprentice and Trip Leader Trainings (about four weekends/year).
• Oversee Outdoor Programs rental and bicycle shop operations with student managers.
• Recruit, train, supervise, and develop student employees and Outdoor Programs student staff.
