Definition of Classification:
The Graduate Assistant, Campus Engagement & Intramural Programs supports the mission of the Office of Student Campus Life by creating meaningful opportunities for student involvement, leadership development, recreation, and belonging. Reporting to the Manager of Student Campus Life Activities, this position assists in the planning, implementation, assessment, and day-to-day operations of campus engagement initiatives, with primary responsibility for intramural sports, support for recognized student clubs and organizations, student engagement technology, and commuter student engagement. The Graduate Assistant serves as a key student leader within Student Campus Life, collaborating with campus partners, student organizations, and student employees to create inclusive, engaging, and educational co-curricular experiences that contribute to student success and a vibrant campus community. This position requires flexible work hours, including evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays to support student programming and events.
Under the direction of the Manager of Student Life Activities, responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Standard office and field setting. Duties performed are in an office environment while sitting at a desk or computer workstation or in meetings, and outside at sports recreation facilities. The position requires working some evenings and weekends.
Incumbents regularly sit for long periods; stand, and walk on a regular basis; occasionally may run; use hands and fingers to operate an electronic keyboard or other office machines; reach with hands and arms; stoop or kneel or crouch to file; speak clearly and distinctly to answer telephones and to provide information; see to read fine print and operate computer; hear and understand voices over telephone and in person; and lift, carry and/or move objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check. Offers are conditional and may be rescinded if disqualifying information is found or if information was withheld or falsified. Current employees may be affected if the check is not satisfactorily completed.
Certain positions require a valid driver’s license and enrollment in the DMV Government Employer Pull Notice Program to verify license status and driving record.
Select positions (e.g., Public Safety, Facilities, Student Affairs, Athletics, ITS) require a pre-employment physical exam, including the ability to lift 50+ lbs. Public Safety Officers must also pass a psychological evaluation.
