Job summary

Xcel Energy offers a summer internship in Electric Distribution Design for students pursuing Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Project Management, or Construction Management.

You will assist with project management, GIS/mapping, site visits, and billing, collaborating with IT, construction, and other departments to serve customers. The internship begins May 24, 2027, and may extend based on performance; hybrid in-person work is available.

Qualifications

• Current student, Sophomore or higher.
• Enrolled in ABET accredited college pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management.
• Travel to job sites for project design planning, construction site readiness, customer meetings.
• Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week)/ part time during the school year (up to 20 hours a week) and commuting to the designated work location in-person, per our hybrid work policy.

Responsibilities

• Assist with project management, GIS/mapping, and field site visits.
• Support billing and office tasks as needed.
• Collaborate with IT, construction, and other departments to address customer requests.
