Job summary

Stantec's Denver Lighting Design group is seeking a student intern to help create lighting designs, select fixtures, and assist with lighting controls and energy code compliance. The role offers hands-on experience on real projects and expects collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

You'll contribute to documentation, luminaire schedules, and presentation materials while developing professionally in a supportive office environment during the summer.

Qualifications

• Student/internship in lighting design or related field; exposure to real projects.
• Experience with lighting design processes including fixture selection, controls, and documentation.
• Strong collaboration and self-starting mindset, especially in a multidisciplinary environment.

Responsibilities

• Producing lighting layouts using Revit.
• Perform photometric calculations with AGI32 or LightStanza.
• Conduct energy code compliance calculations.
• Assist with report writing and documentation.
• Develop presentation materials, renderings, and graphics packages.
• Create luminaire schedules and pull product specification sheets.
• Develop and review mock-ups; collaborate with design team.

Our Denver office is currently seeking a student intern lighting designer to spend the summer working with our award‑winning Lighting Design group. The candidate would be responsible for working on lighting designs, fixture selection, lighting controls, energy code compliance and all aspects of lighting design and documentation. The preferred candidate will be a self‑starter that enjoys working collaboratively alongside other creative minds and problem solvers.

This position will be predominately in‑person working from the office, with occasional hybrid remote work. Location could be in Washington DC, Chicago, Austin, San Francisco, Seattle, or Denver offices.
