Job summary

Miami University is seeking an Outdoor Instructor for the Outdoor Pursuit Center JM. This temporary (fixed term) position supports program development, trips, climbing wall activities, and equipment operations, with duties spanning CPR/BBA certification maintenance and staff supervision.

The role involves assisting with instruction and programming across various outdoor activities, including equipment rentals, trips, workshops, and leadership of climbing-related programs.

Qualifications

• Current CPR and First Aid certifications or obtained within 30 days of hiring
• Experience in Outdoor Recreation Programming

Responsibilities

• Assists in the planning and implementation of programs and services provided by the Team Building program
• Assists in the planning and leading of adventure trips and workshops
• Assists in the staffing and supervision of the Climbing Wall and Youth Climbing Team programs
• Assists with the equipment rental program operations
• Inspects equipment/facilities and reports any unsafe conditions or maintenance needs
• Attends all mandatory staff meetings and training sessions
• Remains current in CPR & BBP certification
• Completes other duties as assigned

Responsibilities are to assist program directors and student staffin various areas of the Outdoor Pursuit Center including equipmentrentals, trips and workshops, climbing wall programs, and ropescourse programs. May also assist with instruction of SLMcourses.
