Job summary

Sports Basement in California seeks staff with a passion for outdoor gear to lead a zone on the sales floor. You will deliver WOW customer service, coach teammates, and manage daily tasks with minimal supervision while engaging customers in gear talks and product knowledge.

You will collaborate with management to meet goals, maintain zone organization, and support merchandise displays. This role blends sales, service, and team leadership across multiple departments.

Qualifications

• Retail or industry experience with a desire to grow into a leadership role.
• Passionate sports or outdoor enthusiast is a plus.
• Ability to create a WOW experience for every customer.
• Strong verbal and written communication with customers and staff.
• Attention to detail.
• Basic computer skills.
• Flexibility and adaptability as roles change.
• Must be able to lift 40 pounds, bend down repeatedly, and stand for long shifts.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Time management and problem-solving skills.
• Awareness of business tools used in zones/departments: Google Docs, Shopify, POS, Winterstieger, Sales Saver, Lightspeed and Fiori.
• Available to work during operating hours including most weekdays, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Provide outstanding WOW customer service and train staff to use tools for WOW experiences.
• Identify merch priorities for the zone/department and create a daily action plan.
• Learn department goals and maintain organization and cleanliness within the zone.
• Collaborate with Merchandising to create appealing displays.
• Ensure incoming product is merchandised efficiently, safely, and accurately.
• Maintain open communication with zone staff and participate in trainings.
• Act as training point person for zone staff when needed.
• Stay up-to-date with company initiatives and track store performance against goals.
• Support daily operations and seek improvements for the zone/department.
