Job summary

Camp Burgess & Hayward is seeking an Outdoor Education Director to manage its rental program for school groups from Fall to Spring.

The role includes booking, delivering high-quality experiences, and hiring and supervising 10–15 seasonal staff, coordinating with food service, facilities, and retreat operations to meet goals.

This is a full-time, year-round position with on-site housing provided, plus opportunities to develop new programs and marketing efforts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
• Experience teaching outdoor education and teambuilding programs.
• Experience working with students ages 10–18.
• Lifeguarding or waterfront programming experience preferred.
• Ability to lead groups, facilitate discussions and staff development.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Directs and oversees the rental program to meet community needs and YMCA objectives.
• Recruits, hires, trains, and manages 10–15 seasonal Outdoor Educators.
• Builds relationships with school groups and coordinates on-site experiences.
• Manages budgeted revenue and expenses for the rental program.
• Supports facilities and food services to meet program goals.
• Collaborates with staff to promote camp activities and community involvement.
