Job summary

Shirley Contracting Company, LLC is accepting applications for Skilled Laborers to join our team at various Virginia sites including Fairfax, Strasburg, and Spotsylvania County. This full-time, year-round role starts early with typical 6:00 AM to 7:00 AM starts; you will perform manual labor, assist with erosion controls, flagging, site preparation, and work around heavy equipment; PPE required.

Candidates must be 18+, pass pre-employment drug screen; outdoor work in all seasons; ability to lift

Qualifications

• Outdoor environments in all seasons
• Be comfortable working alongside heavy equipment and communicate with operators/workers/pedestrians
• Be comfortable at heights and in confined spaces with PPE and training
• Moderate to heavy lifting and frequent bending, twisting, reaching, kneeling, crawling, squatting

Responsibilities

• Perform flagging, traffic closures and related tasks as assigned
• Clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, brace excavations, remove waste material
• Install erosion and sediment controls (e.g., silt fence)
• Willingness to perform manual labor to support projects
• Wear PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, etc.) and work with safety protocols
• Work on various tasks within a day and maintain safety culture and relationships with customers and coworkers
