Job summary

Sysco Detroit is seeking a warehouse associate to hand-build pallets, pick products from shelves, and load trailers per company standards.

You will operate forklifts and pallet jacks, follow food safety procedures, and maintain a clean, safe work area while communicating with the management team.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, 6 months warehouse experience, and forklift/pallet jack certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 6 months warehouse experience preferred.
• Forklift and pallet jack certification.
• Knowledge of safe lifting procedures and food safety guidelines.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
• Basic math and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Read pick sheets and travel to proper warehouse locations using a pallet jack.
• Picks proper product type and quantity, labels products and places on a pallet and loads the pallet on trucks according to proper zone, location, and established standards.
• Handles products and builds pallets according to established food safety procedures (e.g. inspection for damages, proper placement).
• Maintains clean and safe warehouse; reports spills/damages and disposes of trash properly.
• Communicates with management about issues (e.g., products, out of stocks, safety concerns).
• Operates all company warehouse equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, scanners) safely.
• Reports equipment issues to management.
• Completes paperwork and tracks time using wearable computer for productivity reporting.
• Works assigned schedule with attendance and overtime as needed.
