Job summary

Fyda Freightliner Columbus is seeking an experienced diesel technician to maintain and repair yard spotter trucks in both shop and field settings.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, engine and hydraulic repairs, and accurate service documentation, all while upholding safety standards in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• HD Diesel trucks or equipment experience required.
• Must be able to pass background and pre-employment drug screening.
• Welding experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Fyda Freightliner Columbus is a Daimler Trucks North America authorized dealer of new Freightliner and Western Star trucks, and also an authorized dealer for Kalmar Ottawa yard trucks and Isuzu Commercial Trucks. We carry all current makes and models in the Freightliner, Western Star, Ottawa and Isuzu COE product portfolios. Serving the Columbus transportation industry hub since 1985, we operate as a full-service commercial truck dealership and body shop.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist with preventive maintenance and repairs of diesel-powered yard spotter trucks.
• You will be tasked with making mechanical, hydraulic, engine, chassis, and electrical repairs on diesel powered yard spotter trucks.
• Perform preventive maintenance and inspections
• Troubleshoot issues with diesel engines
• Determine parts & tools necessary for mechanical, hydraulic and electrical repairs
• Complete service paperwork while maintaining efficiency
• Maintain a safe clean work area
• Perform preventative maintenance and inspections in shop and on site mobile

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED certificate
• 2 Years verifiable experience with H.D. Diesel trucks or equipment
• Will train someone with automotive experience
• Manual dexterity, able to lift heavy objects
• Welding Experience preferred, not required
• Annual DOT inspection experience preferred, not required
• Ability to work in the elements when needed
• Must be able to pass a background check and a pre-employment drug screening. (Fyda Freightliner follows the National DOT guidelines and tests for marijuana.)

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to walk, stand, kneel, crouch, reach and lift.
• Physically fit and able to lift 100 pounds
