Job summary

Ford Motor Company in Palo Alto is seeking a senior software engineer to join the In-Vehicle OTA Platform team. You will build the software that updates the Universal Electric Vehicle fleet, orchestrating download, verification, installation, and activation across ECUs in real vehicles on real roads.

You'll write production-grade Rust and work across embedded firmware, vehicle software, and cloud infra while collaborating with teams to ensure safe, reliable updates and contribute to CI/CD

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/Engineering or equivalent.
• 7+ years software engineering with 3+ years Rust or strong C++ experience.
• Strong async programming with Tokio runtime.
• Solid Linux experience in development/debugging/operating software.
• Experience designing state machines for distributed or embedded systems.
• Strong testing discipline: unit/integration/mock testing.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, containerization, and modern build systems.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the OTA software update engine.
• Design and implement reliable, safe update orchestration logic.
• Write production-quality async Rust with focus on correctness, safety, and maintainability.
• Build and contribute to developer tooling for deployments.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, container infra, and multi-target builds.
• Participate in code reviews with focus on correctness.
• Collaborate across embedded firmware, vehicle software, and cloud infrastructure teams.
