Job summary

Generac seeks an OT Systems Engineer to design, deploy, and secure connected OT systems across manufacturing facilities. You will bridge plant-floor equipment, enterprise apps, and analytics platforms to enable real-time monitoring, predictive maintenance, and secure data integration.

The role collaborates with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, IT, Cybersecurity, Quality, and Supply Chain to ensure secure, scalable, and business-aligned manufacturing systems across sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, information technology, industrial technology, or related technical field.
• Equivalent combination of education and relevant manufacturing OT experience may be considered.
• 5+ years of experience supporting OT, Cloud Infrastructure, Manufacturing Systems, or Industrial IoT environments.
• Experience with industrial control systems including PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and machine communications.
• Experience supporting manufacturing networks and industrial connectivity solutions.
• Experience building and supporting secure cloud compute for OT environments.
• Experience integrating equipment, sensors, and manufacturing systems using industrial communication protocols.
• Experience collaborating across Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, IT, and Cybersecurity teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement connectivity solutions for manufacturing equipment, test systems, and facility assets.
• Standardize machine data collection utilizing OPC-UA, MQTT, Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP, Profinet, and other industrial protocols.
• Connect production assets to enterprise platforms including MES, CMMS, ERP, SCADA, historian, and cloud systems.
• Develop and maintain machine data architectures and asset models.
• Establish standards for edge computing and industrial gateway deployments.
• Drive enterprise-wide visibility through real-time machine monitoring and operational dashboards.
• Design and support OT-focused AWS environments.
• Develop secure OT-to-cloud architectures.
• Manage cloud infrastructure, networking, monitoring, backup, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Integrate manufacturing equipment and sensors with CMMS platforms.
• Enable automated work order generation from machine condition monitoring systems.
• Develop predictive maintenance capabilities utilizing industrial analytics and machine learning.
• Support maintenance teams through equipment health monitoring and reliability analytics.
• Support global IT with OT cybersecurity controls aligned with industry standards.
• Support OT network segmentation and secure remote-access solutions.
• Manage vulnerability assessments, patching strategies, and access control systems.
• Participate in incident response and forensic investigations involving industrial systems.
• Develop OT disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
