Job summary

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) is seeking a Network Engineer - Power Systems (OT) to provide expert technical support and power system automation solutions. A focus on teaching, advising, and supporting customers ensures the reliability and safety of power grids.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field) required.
• Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in power system automation and protection communications.
• Experience with wired protection and control networks, fiber optic, microwave and spread-spectrum radio.
• Strong communication and presentation skills; ability to travel ~25%.

Responsibilities

• Knowledge of SONET, multiplexers, and legacy TDM interfaces (C37.94, Async).
• Maintain and improve knowledge of power system communications (fiber, radio, IP, switches, routers, TCP/IP).
• Assist customers with SEL products via visits, demonstrations, training, and phone support.
• Apply engineering principles to provide solutions to problems.
• Contribute to product specs, applications, and testing literature.
• Participate in SEL marketing/sales activities and industry events.
• Support troubleshooting to determine root causes and review technical papers.
