Job summary

TAR in Austin, TX seeks an IOT Engineer to build and operate the network that powers our off-grid data-center island. You will design the IT/OT network, integrate vendor equipment into a single reference database, and verify every detail before load is applied.

You’ll go on-site for equipment setup and commissioning, maintain cybersecurity, and own the end-to-end network workstream, delivering fast, reliable communications across the island.

Qualifications

• 4+ years IT/Network Engineering experience.
• Ability to spec out and design a network from scratch and hands-on implementation.
• Protocol fluency at the packet level; knowledge of multiple vendor protocols.

Responsibilities

• Define and implement the OT communications strategy (PRP/HSR, MRP, RSTP) and VLAN/QoS.
• Engineer network paths to meet latency budgets and support fast load shed/ island transitions.
• Interface control documents and data points for PV inverters, BESS PCS, BMS, gensets, switchgear, relays, metering.
• On-site setup of network equipment, commissioning support, and issue resolution.
• Ensure cybersecurity during design and operation; provide technical direction to OEM/integrator teams.
