Job summary

ON.energy, based in Houston, TX, seeks a Senior Specialist OT/SCADA Network Architect to lead in-house design authority for OT networks on AI data center UPS projects. You’ll refine templates, tailor designs per site, and collaborate with engineering managers to ensure secure, scalable control networks across the portfolio.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in network engineering and architecture, with 5+ years in OT/ICS/SCADA networks
• Experience designing heavily segmented, multi-zone networks for large systems
• Strong routing & switching: VLANs, L3 routing, NAT, ACLs, ring redundancy
• Site-to-site IPsec VPN design and troubleshooting
• IT/OT separation, dataflow design, DMZs, gateways
• Proficiency with industrial protocols (Modbus, DNP3, IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-104, OPC UA) and their network impact
• Hands-on firewall design on major platforms (Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco FTD/ASA, Check Point)
• Familiarity with IEC 62443 and cross-functional documentation

Responsibilities

• Architect the OT network and refine the base design template for projects
• Produce design packages: diagrams, IP/VLAN schedules, configurations, cable/fiber schedules
• Design multi-zone networks with QoS, NTP/PTP/IRIG-B for reliable control traffic
• Map dataflows end-to-end from PCS/BMS/meters to cloud and client platforms
• Design DMZ, gateways, and data-transfer patterns coordinating with IT and cloud teams
• Support design reviews, commissioning, test plans, and as-built documentation
• Guide vendor/equipment selection and review OEM submittals with sizing justification
• Support asset inventory, centralized logging, and security segmentation
