Job summary

Cable One is seeking an OSP Designer II to create broadband designs cost-effectively while upholding our standards. This role uses CAD/GIS tools and collaborates with Technical Operations, Construction, and Engineering to deliver complete design packages.

Remote eligibility is available for candidates in listed states; candidates should be able to manage multiple projects, read walkout data, produce as-builts, and help design major plant upgrades.

Qualifications

• Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or university and minimum five-years related experience. Outside plan design, construction, or Geospatial Information Systems experience preferred.
• Intermediate knowledge of GIS applications such as ESRI and Schneider design software programs following Cable One Standards and specifications.
• Intermediate understanding of cable design.
• Well versed in HFC and Fiber symbology.
• Familiarity with telecommunications outside plant equipment, design, and construction techniques.
• Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.
• Ability to effectively problem-solve complicated issues.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrating the ability to clearly communicate information.

Responsibilities

• Design new and existing HFC plant extensions.
• Perform base drafting.
• Accurately read walkout information.
• Updates as-builts as construction is completed and releases the area.
• Provide complete construction build packet, which includes full design deliverables in a timely manner.
• Learn new software and adapt to new technology when required.
• Creates complicated fiber splicing matrixes and Lightpath circuits.
• Responsible for fiber availability and determination of reinforcement requirements.
• Design major plant upgrades.
• Perform plant undesigns and redesigns.
• Ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects at one time with accuracy.
• Takes on other duties needed to help drive our Purpose, fulfill our Brand Principles, and abide by our Organization’s Values.
