Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Clinical Nursing Student to provide direct patient care under the supervision of an RN in the Orthopedic Unit at West Hospital. The role focuses on clinical exposure and hands-on nursing practice through shadowing and delegated patient care tasks.

The position emphasizes learning, teamwork and patient safety, with opportunities to participate in patient assessments, data collection and documentation while advancing nursing knowledge.

Qualifications

• HS/GED required.
• Currently enrolled in a nursing program and has completed one clinical nursing course and one clinical rotation (required).
• BLS (preferred).
• Recent experience in acute care and/or long term care facility (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Support the nurse in applying the nursing process under RN supervision.
• Assist with patient care, vital signs, hygiene, mobility and daily activities.
• Document care accurately and timely in the patient record.
• Communicate changes or concerns to the nurse and escalate as needed.
• Provide high-quality customer service to patients and families.
