Job summary

Rutherford Regional Health System, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a Medical Office Assistant (PRN) to support a busy orthopedic clinic with front desk duties, patient check-in/check-out, and accurate data entry. This role emphasizes communication, reliability, and patient-focused care.

You will manage demographics and insurance information, collect balances, and coordinate referrals while working in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Medical front office experience preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Responsibilities

• Greet visitors and communicate with patients and providers.
• Coordinate workflow and maintain records of office activities.
• Complete check-in/check-out process.
• Enter and update patient demographics and insurance information.
• Collect copays/coinsurance and outstanding balances.
• Prepare pre-appointment checklists and materials.
• Schedule referrals and send records to specialists as needed.
• Handle front desk tasks in a timely manner.
