Job summary

UCI Health in California seeks an Orthopaedic Technician to perform clinical assessment and care management for orthopedic outpatients. Responsibilities include removing sutures, applying casts and splints, collecting patient data, and guiding patients with care instructions.

The role requires 2+ years of orthopaedic tech experience, a Medical Assistant diploma or equivalent, and current OTC/ROT certification with strong English communication and customer service skills.

Qualifications

• Understanding of medical terminology.
• Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties.
• Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job.
• Minimum 2 years experience working as an Orthopaedic Technician.
• Medical Assistant Diploma or Certificate of Competency / Recognition in Medical Assisting Clinical / Back Office
• Knowledge and abilities essential to the performance of the duties assigned to the position.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Current Orthopaedic Technologist Certified (OTC) from National Board for Certification of Orthopaedic Technologists, or Registered Orthopedic Technologist (ROT) certification from the American Society of Orthopedic Professionals
• BLS certification upon hire
• Ability to maintain flexibility and work well in a constantly changing environment
• Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System

Responsibilities

• Performs clinical assessment and care management for orthopedic outpatients.
• Removes sutures and applies/removes casts and splints.
• Collects and records patient data and provides patient information and instructions.
• Monitors patient flow during clinic hours.
• Demonstrates the knowledge to provide care appropriate to patient age groups.
• Maintains positive attitude and excellent customer service.
