Job summary

Bucks County Orthopedic Specialists is seeking a full-time Surgical Coordinator to schedule and coordinate surgical procedures in our Warrington or Doylestown offices. Preference given to candidates residing in Bucks County, PA.

The role emphasizes pre-authorizations, patient communication, and accurate documentation within the EMR/EHR system. The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of surgical scheduling experience, strong multitasking ability, and proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience as Surgical Coordinator or Scheduler.
• Experience in medical scheduling and physician practice environments preferred.
• Experience obtaining surgical pre-authorizations and pre-certifications from commercial/government insurance.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology, insurance authorization processes, and EMR/EHR systems.
• HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general office systems.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and schedule surgical procedures with hospitals, surgery centers, physicians, and patients.
• Coordinate and obtain insurance pre-authorizations and pre-certifications for scheduled procedures within deadlines.
• Verify insurance coverage and communicate with carriers, providers, and patients to resolve authorization issues.
• Communicate scheduling details and pre-operative instructions to patients and families.
• Maintain surgical documentation and EMR/EHR records; assist with coding and billing-related documentation as needed.
• Support front office operations, including scheduling, phone coverage, and clerical duties.
• Follow HIPAA guidelines and foster a professional, patient-focused environment.
