Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Associate’s degree or completion of a Medical Office Professional program is required.
• Two years of experience in a medical practice or clinical setting may be accepted in place of the required Associate's degree or completion of a Medical Office Program.
• Experience in a medical practice or clinical setting must be 24 out of the past 36 months.

Responsibilities

• Schedule surgeries and diagnostic testing in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Coordinate with hospital and practice personnel; obtain pre-authorizations and write surgery orders.
• Educate patients on pre- and post-operative instructions and procedures.
• Ensure all essential clinical, insurance, coding and patient information is gathered prior to visits and schedule follow-up as needed.
• Engage patients, families and caregivers as part of the healthcare team.
• Perform administrative duties such as patient registration, scheduling, answering phones, making copies and maintaining supplies.
