Job summary

Carolinas Medical Center Albemarle Orthopedics is Hiring a Medical Assistant to support patient care in a fast-paced surgical ortho setting. You will room patients, take vital signs, review histories, and assist with procedures. Responsibilities include venipuncture, lab duties, vaccine administration, and coordinating scheduling and referrals.

Requires high school diploma or equivalent and completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program. Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or may have completed structured military training which is clinical in nature per DD214 in lieu of a formal medical assistant program or EMT.
• Wake Forest: High School Diploma or GED required.
• Illinois/WI Divisions: High School Diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited or approved Medical Assistant program or 2 years of verifiable full-time experience as a Medical Assistant within the last 5 years.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice and follows all policies and procedures.
• Performs rooming/visit tasks such as vital signs, medication reconciliation, medical history, health maintenance, allergy review, and screenings.
• Assists provider with or performs procedures as ordered.
• Performs lab duties including venipuncture, specimen labeling, POCT, and CLIA-waived tests.
• Administers medications and vaccines safely.
• Supports scheduling, referrals, and insurance authorizations; maintains clean and stocked work areas.

Education

High School Diploma or GED

ACLS/BLS or CMA/RMA certification preferred
