Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking an Orthopedic support professional to assist physicians with wound and cast care, EKGs, injections, and phlebotomy, while coordinating patient care under supervision. You will room patients, document health history, and help with imaging orders, ensuring accurate charting in the EHR.

This role may include scribing duties to maintain clinic workflow, and requires travel to satellite locations to support the physician team.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Graduate from AHN-approved Medical Assistant School within five years of hire or equivalent training.
• Preferred 3–5 years as Ortho Technician/Medical Assistant/ATC.
• Medical Assistant Certification or Athletic Trainer Licensure within 120 days of hire.
• New hires must complete certification training within 30 days.
• CPR certification per AHA requirements.
• Background checks and clearances as per policy.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians with wound care, EKGs, cast/splint care, injections, and phlebotomy.
• Coordinate patient care under supervision of provider.
• Prepare and room patients; document health information, history and medications.
• Interview patients and order radiographs per physician protocols.
• Document details in the electronic health record.
• Educate patients on wound care, cast care, and postoperative care.
• May function as a scribe to the provider when needed.
• Travel to satellite locations to support physicians.
• Maintain inventory and ensure supplies are stocked.
