Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking an Orthopedic Technician/Medical Assistant to support physicians across multiple orthopedic practice locations. You will perform wound care, injections, phlebotomy, cast/splint management, EKGs, and assist with ultrasound procedures, while coordinating patient care under provider supervision.

Responsibilities include preparing patients and rooms, documenting in the electronic health record, and educating patients on postoperative care.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• AHN approved Medical Assistant School graduation within five years of hire or equivalent.
• Medical Assistant Certification or Athletic Trainer Licensure within 120 days of hire.
• CPR – American Heart Association required.
• Act 34/Act 33/Act 73 background clearances required.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and extenders in orthopedic practice locations.
• Perform wound care, dressings, EKGs, suture/staple removal, cast/splint care, injections, vaccines, Botox, phlebotomy, ultrasound assistance.
• Coordinate patient care under supervision of provider.
• Prepare and room patients, interview, and order radiographs per physician protocols.
• Document all details in EHR and review medical history and allergy lists.
• Educate patients on wound, pin, cast, and postoperative care.
• Perform pre-visit chart management and obtain/Review reports.
• Travel to satellite locations to support physicians.
• Other duties as assigned.
