Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking an Ortho Technician/Medical Assistant to support physicians across orthopedic practice locations. You will perform wound care, EKGs, injections, venipuncture, and assist with ultrasound while coordinating patient care under supervision.

You will prepare exam rooms, document health information in the EHR, review histories, and educate patients on wound, pin, cast and postoperative care. Occasional travel to satellite sites is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School Diploma or GED.
• AHN-approved Medical Assistant School graduation within five years of hire or graduate from an athletic training education program or relevant experience.
• CPR – American Heart Association; background checks (Act 34/33/73) as required.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and extenders with wound care, EKGs, casts, injections, vaccines, phlebotomy, and ultrasound support.
• Coordinate patient care under supervision and prepare patient rooms with health information, history and medications.
• Document patient health information and orders in the electronic health record as directed.
• Review allergy/medication lists, medical/surgical history and pain screening; educate patients on wound/cast/postoperative care.
• Travel to satellite locations to support assigned physicians.
