Job summary

The Hughston Clinic in Columbus, GA seeks a versatile Medical Assistant/Ortho tech to assist with DME, casting, and patient care. You will support casting, inventory, and pharmacy-related tasks, ensuring accurate documentation and treatment continuity across Orthopaedic services.

Required are a high school diploma, BLS, HIPAA knowledge, and at least two years casting experience. Preferred are orthopaedic training, Ortho Tech cert, and familiarity with Athena dashboards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Working knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
• Ability to work independently and travel to satellite clinics if assigned.
• Knowledge of fracture care CPT and ICD-10 codes.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to cast room and DME area as needed.
• Remove/apply casts; assist in fracture reductions and minor procedures.
• Assist with DME ordering, inventory, and billing review daily.
• Dispense pre-packed medications per physician instructions.
• Ensure DME sizing, fitting, and documentation are correct.
• Triage cast patients in physician's absence and support Medical Assistant duties.
