Job summary

WVU Medicine is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider-Physician Assistant in Orthopedics at Berkeley Medical Center in Martinsburg. The APP will coordinate and deliver orthopedic care, participate in first-assist duties in the OR, perform peri-operative tasks, and coordinate discharge planning and follow-up in both inpatient and ambulatory settings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree as Physician Assistant or master’s degree required.
• ARC-PA approved PA training program required.
• NCCPA certification required.
• Licensed or eligible for WV Board of Medicine licensure.
• BLS Certification required with possible ACLS/ALS at department discretion.
• ACLS may be required at department discretion.
• Eligible new graduates will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Manages comprehensive and individualized orthopedic care in inpatient, discharge, and ambulatory settings.
• Completes daily rounds and pre-procedure evaluations; participates in perioperative care and first assisting.
• Performs integrated assessments and communicates results per guidelines.
• Orders tests or consultations as appropriate with orthopedic faculty collaboration.
• Documents plan of care, interventions, and evaluations in medical records.
• Coordinates discharge planning and follow-up for outpatient care.
• Demonstrates critical thinking across age groups and emergency situations.
• Provides education to staff, patients, and families; participates in committees and program development.
