Job summary

Connecticut Orthopaedics is seeking a Medical Assistant to support physicians with clinical scheduling, patient flow, and pre/post op coordination across Connecticut locations.

Responsibilities include test/surgery authorizations, scheduling and follow up, patient communication, and accurate documentation in the medical records. Starting hourly rate ranges based on experience, with competitive benefits provided.

Qualifications

• Certification from an Accredited Medical Assistant program is required or equivalent training.
• High school Diploma or GED is required.
• Experience as Medical Assistant or Medical Secretary is preferred.
• Experience in an orthopaedic practice is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Booking provider requests for tests and surgeries and obtaining authorizations.
• Contacting outside facilities and processing related paperwork for scheduling.
• Following up on surgical patients to ensure pre-op and testing appointments are complete.
• Contacting patients with information about tests or surgeries and scheduling follow ups.
• Ensuring test results are received and distributed to the provider and facility.
• Documenting information in the EMR and charting pre-cert numbers.
• Preparing paperwork, x-rays, and documents for the physician for surgery.
• Addressing patient concerns and questions as needed.
• Directing requests for approvals to the case manager.
• Scheduling post-op and first physical therapy appointment.
• Applying casts, removing dressings, sutures, and casts.
• Fitting patients with braces and completing billing paperwork.

Education

Certification from Accredited Medical Assistant program

High school Diploma or GED

Experience as Medical Assistant or Medical Secretary preferred

Experience in orthopaedic practice preferred
